Daddy is Home!

We were quite purrturbed when Mom and Dad got home on Caturday. Dad came in with a really noisy machine attached to his face. He sat in his chair and about 10 minutes later a guy named Steve showed up bringing all kinds of noisy stuff!

Dad’s room now has a noisy oxygen condenser in in and it makes a whoosh whoosh noise 24×7. We thought his C-Pap machine was noisy!

Mommy has been furry busy. She crushes Dad’s pills an uses a humongous syringe and she feeds Dad through a tube in his tummy! When we asked what was the matter, Mom told us that Dad has a disease called ALS (Lou Garrig’s Disease). Mom says that Dad will not get better. So we have been loving him as much as we can.

We have been taking turns sitting with Dad. But we’ve not been ignoring Mom either!

Me

I was watching the snow fall and as soon as there is about 4 more inches, I’ll let Mom know that she needs to get out the shovel!

I don’t know when we will get a chance to post again, but remember, we do LOVE to go and visit our furrends on the tablet and we try to keep up with all of your antics!

  1. It’s a wicked disease. My mom passed away from that disease int he early 90s. Today is her birthday too. Prayers that dad can be comfortable. You just love on him all you can. Mom too because this is hard for her as well. I so remember.

Big healing hugs all around. ♥

  4. Marv, I’m sorry to hear about your dad. One of Gramma’s brothers had ALS and one of her sisters had Parkinson’s. Sending comforting purrz to your mom cos it’s not an easy or a thankful job to care for someone you love when they’re terminally ill.

  5. We can’t be there to lend a paw, but we send as many gigabytes of purrs and prayers to help your dad and mom through these stressful and so tiring times as the internet will allow. You all look as though you have set up a great routine, and that your dad will want for nothing. Just reach out if we can help in any way…..

  6. Love and prayers for all. Having been a caregiver (for many years), it can be a daunting task at times, but I know you have the strength, the desire and the love within you to do this … and the support of so many. Let the love of others guide you through each day, let them be the shoulders you may sometimes cry upon on days that are hard, know that you are never alone even when you feel so much that way. Remember: smile, share a joke, take a deep breath (often) … eat a chocolate bar, hug a kitty, be thankful for what you have, have a glass of wine … breathe deeply again, take a bubble bath … oh, and hug that kitty one more time.

  7. Hey guys, we are sending our furry bestest purrs of comfort for Mommy and Dad. We have someone very special to us who has ALS and is receiving palliative care at this time. She is a cat lady who worked hard to get abandoned cats at her seniors mobile home park trapped, spayed and neutered. Take care of each other.
