18 years today, my Mother passed away. It was not unexpected. She had been battling cancer for almost a year. I had kissed her goodbye as I left town on a Sunday afternoon to head back to Edmonton. I worked for a software company and every second week, they let me work in the Calgary office so I could be with my Mom. As it was our anniversary, I was hoping I could get home in time to have a nice late supper with my hubby.
When I arrived back in Edmonton, and wearily walked up the steps –there were 2 cat carriers, my husband had a suitcase, our dog Bob and our 2 cats, Nellie and Licorice packed and ready to go. My cell phone battery had died and I did not know that Mom had rapidly failed. We did the normal 3 hour drive in less than 2 and I got there in time to say goodbye.
This spark is for you Mom. You thought life was a great adventure and passed that along to me. And I am still adventuring!
I know Nellie is sitting on your lap, she LOVED your lap, and I love you both and there is not a day I don’t think about you.
