Thankful on Thursday

It is furry hot here in Vancouver! But then it is extremely hot almost everywhere in the northern hemisphere this summer. Droughts, fires, heat, bad winds, storms…even the townhouse is furry hot! Tonight it 35c (or 95f) in the townhouse. We only have fans and hot air rises so the bedrooms are as hot inside as it is outside.  And it is not cooling off very much at night. We have been going through tons of water! Mommy has been filling our fountain upstairs, Cinnie had a 2 quart water bowl and we have a cat water dish that all have been refilled twice a day!

I am thankful for you my furrends who come to visit me and I am especially thankful for Brian and his family who host Thankful Thursday!

Why are we thankful?

CinnieWalk

Cinnie is thankful that she has a great place to walk every morning! Though she can’t go out onto the cranberry field, she has a great road to run on. These fields are between us and the rest of Richmond. The big buildings across the river are the city of Burnaby (where Mom works).

N&M

Ninja and I are thankful his Dad is home in the morning, so we can enjoy the cooler weather outside in the catio.

Ninja-hot

Ninja’s thankful that there is a cool breeze blowing on his belly through the slats.

Koz-HotOh yes, I forgot, Kozmo was in the catio on the top shelf, he’s thankful for the cool of the morning too! And that us young guys are NOT bothering him!

JoJo-Hot

And Jo Jo is thankful that Uusboy cats and our rambunctiousness don’t bother her. We are afraid of her teeth and claws!

We are looking forward to the weather getting cooler Friday night.  What do YOU do to beat the heat?

  1. You guys are really hot! We got up to 32C today but with the smoke from the forest fires, the sky was very hazy so we never saw the sun at all. Imagine how hot it would have been if the sun was out.

    Take her cool my buds.

  2. Dang, it is super hot there, Marv! We are glad to hear you’re all getting along, and figuring out how to deal with the heat. We are also glad that it will cool off there starting on Friday!

Love and hugs to you all.

  3. Our day was hot, humid and it POURED rain this afternoon. Jan got soaked through pushing a buggy through a parking lot and it took hours for her clothes to dry. Finally, the humidity eased a bit and we did manage a walk this evening. Keep cool!

  4. Two words: air conditioning. I’m so sorry it’s so hot in your townhouse. It’s been in the 90sF with heat indexes over a hunnert. Pop has been working at home so he doesn’t have to ride the hot buses. I don’t think I’d survive w/o ac. I’m certainly thankful for it.

  6. We have AC in every part of the house now, but it took installing three units AND keeping the wall AC in the living room! We have had around 100 degree weather this week, and thankfully we are at least relatively cool up here.

  7. We’ve had horribly hot weather too with the occasional shower which just makes it humid and hot at the same time. We do have air-conditioning in the house though and while I love being outside under a tree or shrub Mom makes me come in after an hour to get plenty of water and rest in the cool house. You all stay as cool and hydrated as you can!!!!!

  10. Marv dude, oh buddy we are so hot here too, really unusual weather fur us, normally we have rather wet and dismal summers but we’ve literally baked this year! We only have fans too, but we have put in a written request to the management that if the summers are going to continue in this vain we need A/C stat! MOL

Here’s to it cooling down a little and getting some respite asap

  16. We are praying that it has gotten cooler there. That sounds miserable. Our mom cannot stand the heat (or the humidly, which we have lots of). She’s not sure what she’d do if it was that hot at night. Glad you all can get a breeze on the catio. 17. It finally cooled off here in ORE-gon yesterday, so I had energy to play a little bit. It felt so good! I hope Momma Nature sends some cool breezes your way, too, Marv. When it’s real hot sometimes Mom puts a wet rag on my furs. Does your momma do that to you, too? Tummy tickles.

  18. We understand the no air conditioning. Mainly we just lie around. When Mom turns on the ceiling fan in the dining room, we lie under that. Purrs, Snoops and Kommando Kitty
